-Today we arrive in Az to spend a few days in celebration of my Mom's post birthday and my Brothers going away get together. My mom adds another number on her belt and my brother scratches off another day spent with family. Its a weird feeling celebrating and at the same time dredding the day my brother leaves for the Army. But before anything else, here's a quick intro/history between my brother and I.....
I'm 11yrs older than my brother but we tend to get along very well.
There is only Me and Him and no one else
(except for our little angel to which i believe is just hovering around us in every days of our lives)
One is smart and the other is street smart, but flip flops every once in awhile
one is out going and the other is out spoken (excessively!)
He tends to do everything I did, but does it a little better at times.... or maybe a few... or more... whaateverrrr....
we both love video games and watching TV, like I said whatever I like, he likes...
Ok thats done!

The reason for this is just to say How proud I am of my Brother.
He's tackled a lot of challenges for his age and has managed to always come up with a plan to get through them.
The reason I'm telling all these is because I wanna share an experience Me and my family just experienced earlier today. (a couple of days after the party)

This is the day my Brother "ships out"
After going through his checklist of things to bring we did lunch at a place where they "seafood differently". everyone is happy but has this feeling in his gut about the inevitable situation that will take place in a coupe of hours. The waitress asks what celebration we might have and my Father answers, "He's leaving today to join the Army" (gut feeling still stays the same) Halfway through our lobster extravaganza, this old couple seated beside us stood up and before they leave, He paused, spoke to our Mom and Dad saying "I heard that your son is leaving for the Army. We very much appreciate him serving our country and to you as well." He then gave thanks to our parents and bids my brother good luck and went on their way. (gut feeling shoots up and opens the flood gates of tears from all of us at the same time!)
Yes my brother is leaving, Yes we wont be seeing him for awhile, and Yes this all sank in to us instantly after the old couple left.
We always appreciate people in the armed forces for their sacrifices, it puts a smile on our faces every time we see people in uniform appreciated and prioritized in the airport or in any establishment. Or to see other people shaking their hands and thanking them for their service. But we never really know what it means or how it feels until we are at the receiving end of it. Its a combination of Sadness, Happines, of being Scared, Realization, Reluctance, uncertainty and ends with us being PROUD. And all of that in just seconds. Its an emotional roller coaster. so here's to our Brother/sister/Father/Mother/Friends who serves in our armed forces.
We Thank you, appreciate you and are PROUD of You!
To My Brother, Keep it strong! we will always support you and will always be Proud of whom you've become. Be awesome!
